Harvey Dunn created a portrait of Tamron before a captivated studio audience, while viewers at home were able to see the artwork take shape in real-time.The show’s audience had the opportunity to watch the transformation of a blank canvas into a portrait of their beloved television host.
Folds of Honor at AT&T Stadium: A Heartfelt Tribute through Art
Another standout moment this year was PaintJam’s performance at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled soldiers. The venue, home to the Dallas Cowboys, is a sprawling, high-energy space that hosts some of the most memorable events in the country, and PaintJam was there to create a deeply moving tribute.
The performance took place during a special event where PaintJam artist Harvey Dunn worked live to produce a painting of a Navy Seal that reflected the honor and sacrifice of military families. The large-scale canvas, 5 feet x 6 feet, created in front of the audience helped amplify the powerful sense of unity and respect for the members of the service and their families.
PaintJam’s commitment to charitable causes shines through in the tangible ways they support fundraising efforts. Not only did Folds of Honor receive a beautiful painting as part of the performance, but the charity also auctioned the painting for $38,000. It’s a perfect example of how performance art can create a direct return on investment, making PaintJam an invaluable partner for nonprofits.
Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center: A Night of Team Spirit
For sports fans, there’s no greater stage than a live game at an arena like the American Airlines Center, home to the Dallas Mavericks. The City Edition uniforms this year were influenced by a collaboration with musician Leon Bridges and his “Trinity River Blues”. PaintJam tailored the painting and the music track to display this collaboration. Painter Harvey Dunn incorporated a portrait of Maverick’s guard Kyrie Irving and a tribute to Leon Bridges in his performance painting. The original painting created during the event stayed with the team.
Furman Lakeside Band for the 4th of July: A Celebration of American Pride
PaintJam’s live performances aren’t just reserved for corporate events or major stadiums; they can transform even the most classic celebrations into something extraordinary. One such event was the 4th of July celebration at Furman University in Greenville, SC.
PaintJam was contacted by a past client, Music Director Dr. Sue Samuels, to collaborate with her Lakeside Band during its outdoor summer series. The heat index drove the event indoors to the lovely, air conditioned McAlister Auditorium. The musicians included college students, high school students and community musicians of all ages.
Both Dan Dunn and Harvey Dunn created paintings to the accompaniment of the Band, celebrating the heart of American culture: Lady Liberty, a Soaring Eagle, Lunar Astronaut, and Louis Armstrong. The performance was a collaboration of live music and performance art that brought people together in celebration of shared values and patriotism.
The paintings were auctioned immediately after the performance, with all proceeds going to the Furman Band.
