Some performances are about spectacle. Others are about precision.
PaintJam was brought in for a Gulf States Toyota sales meeting celebrating a championship season marked by record-breaking performance. The client wanted a visual anchor for the moment, something that could live beyond the event itself.
The solution centered on a six-foot by five-foot canvas featuring an astronaut, a recurring image in PaintJam’s repertoire and one that resonates strongly in Houston. PaintJam loves performing iconic imagery that resonates with a crowd. Fireworks filled the astronaut’s helmet to mark the celebration. The Toyota logo appeared on the arm. “Championship Season” was integrated at the base.
The challenge was not the painting. It was advance notice.
Alongside the live performance for approximately 180 attendees, the client requested matted and signed 5×7 prints of the artwork for distribution. The entire turnaround window was four to five days. That meant painting, digitizing, compositing, printing, and signing all had to happen in-house, without delays.
Because PaintJam controls its own production pipeline, the team was able to lock in immediately. Harvey painted the primary image. Dan handled logo work. The images were combined, proofed, printed, and signed on schedule.
Customization is often misunderstood. It does not mean rebuilding a show from scratch. It means adjusting the right elements to serve the client’s message without flattening the performance. In this case, the astronaut remained the focal point. The branding supported the image rather than overpowering it.
The night also carried a personal highlight. Harvey met Carl Herrera, a former NBA champion with the Houston Rockets and the first Venezuelan to play in the league. Moments like that are incidental, but they become part of the memory of a show.
For Gulf States Toyota, the result was a visual celebration that matched the scale of their achievement. For PaintJam, it reinforced the value of being able to move quickly, adapt visually, and deliver tangible takeaways alongside a live experience.
